Today marks the Day of the Journalist of Ukraine. On May 25, 1994, in Kyiv, the first popularly elected President of Ukraine, Leonid Makarovych Kravchuk, signed Decree 251/94, ordering the establishment of a new “professional holiday for media workers, the Day of the Journalist.”
The date for the celebration of “Journalists’ Day” was chosen not by chance. It was on this memorable day, in Brussels, that the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, by an overwhelming majority, was admitted to the International Federation of Journalists, the world’s largest organization of media professionals.
In addition to the Day of the Journalist, there are other related professional holidays in Ukraine: the Day of Radio, Television and Communications Workers of Ukraine, which is celebrated in November, and the Day of Solidarity of Journalists, which is celebrated in September.
In addition to this holiday, the world community celebrates World Verneuil Disease Day. This date is celebrated annually on the first Sunday of June. It was launched in 2012, and the date itself was introduced in connection with the need to disseminate information about skin diseases – hidradenitis, which is diagnosed in 1% of women and men in the world.
The purpose of the day is to draw attention to the disease and raise awareness and awareness of humanity.
In particular, today marks Yo-Yo Day, a toy made of two disks of the same size and weight made of plastic, wood, or metal, and between them is the axis to which the string is tied.
Yo-yo gained popularity in the 1920s.
In modern times, the toy was reborn in 1866, when inventors from Cincinnati James Haven and Charles Gettrank received a patent for this toy, which they called a banner. Its mass production began only in 1928, at the Yo-yo Manufacturing Company of Pedro Flores in Santa Barbara. Already in 1928, 300,000 copies of yo-yo were produced per day.
Today, June 6, the faithful honor the memory of St. Simeon, a pillar on the Wonderful Mountain, and Nikita, a pillar of Pereslavl. In the folk calendar, this date was given the following names: Simeon Stovpnyk, Nikita Stovpnyk, Svoboryn tree.
It is believed that this day begins this summer. They said: “Rosehip blooms – the blush of the year leads.” Our ancestors considered the dog rose a symbol of beauty and youth, embodied true love.
In particular, today’s birthdays are celebrated by: Grigory, Elena, Ivan, Ksenia, Oksana, Nikita, Semyon, Stepan, Fedor.
