Reconciliation between Russia and Ukraine is possible if the successor of Russian President Vladimir Putin reoccupies Crimea and Donbas and bows his head in front of the monument to the victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – June 15, 2021 – Ukraine News
This opinion was expressed on the TV channel “Ukraine 24” by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba.
“Russia will always be our neighbor. The processes launched by Putin, not only by aggression against Ukraine but also by the promotion of anti-Ukrainian hysteria in Russian society, will be long-lasting and will have consequences.
Therefore, even after Putin’s departure from power, I do not expect an immediate normalization of relations or even an immediate opportunity to talk. It will be necessary to see who will be the new leader of Russia, what will be his or her political position on Ukraine, ”the Foreign Minister said.
At the same time, Kuleba believes that it is necessary to “be optimistic and believe that someday these relations between Ukraine and Russia will be normalized.”
“I even know when this will happen – when Russia will reoccupy our territories, and when during his visit to Ukraine the new leader of Russia will bow his head in front of the monument to the victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine. Germany and France have had such an experience, ”the minister explained.
