World Day of Understanding and Peace
On this day in 1905, the Rotary Club was founded. The first Rotary Club was intended only to unite businessmen for the purpose of friendly and amicable relations and cooperation. Subsequently, a large global organization emerged – Rotary International, which positions itself as an open, non-political, charitable entity. The members of the Rotary Club, or Rotarians, are professionals and leaders in various fields of business who implement humanitarian projects, adhere to ethical standards in professional activities, strive to establish mutual understanding and peace around the world.
In memory of the reverend cave miracle worker Prohor the Swan
On February 23, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of the Venerable Cave Miracle Worker Prochorus the Swan, whose relics rest in nearby caves. Seeing the patience of the saint, in such great content, the Lord turned the bitter bread from the swan into a pleasant delight. Reverend Prokhir stocked up on swan bread for a very long time, the bread did not stale or mold. That is why the Saint was named Prohor the Swan.
