It is noted that the European Commission highly appreciates the efforts of the authorized central authorities of Ukraine to counter military aggression, maintain nuclear and radiation safety in Ukraine.
The EC also emphasizes the importance of ongoing dialogue with international partners on the situation around Ukraine’s nuclear power plants and supports the involvement of IAEA, European Nuclear Regulators (ENSREG), WENRA, HERCA and other international partners in these processes.
“If necessary, the parties are ready to join inspections and verifications of safe operation of Ukrainian NPPs under the auspices of the IAEA mission, provide support to Ukraine in risk assessment and support the SNRCU in restoring regulatory control over nuclear power facilities in Ukraine,” the SNRCU said.
However, it is reported that in order to provide practical assistance to the regulator and NPPs of Ukraine, it is critical to ensure safe access of representatives of international organizations to the sites.
