The classified discussion will include proposals to speed up the production of existing systems and the development of new systems, which are key to helping the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and its allies, a defense official said.
The meeting will bring together eight of the world’s leading defense contractors, including General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin and others.
This is “part of our ongoing, frequent dialogue with industry partners to ensure a sustainable industrial base that meets the needs of the department,” the official said.
The meeting between the defense contractors and the Pentagon was organized just a few days ago, according to a representative of the defense industry, who is directly aware of the agreement. The official said contractors were told the focus of the meeting was on the “capacity of the industry” to support Ukraine if the war lasts for several years.
