Meteorological students at the University of Oklahoma (19, 20 and 22 years old) fleeing the storm fell victim to a fatal accident.
A report from the Oklahoma Road Patrol states that the car was hydroplaned and was hit by a tractor with a trailer.
According to authorities, a severe tornado affected more than a thousand buildings.
Officials said several people were reported injured in Sedgwick County.
Search and rescue operations continued on Saturday, with the participation of more than 200 emergency services from 30 agencies. Among the damaged buildings were the City Hall, the Andover Wellness Center and the Prairie Creek Primary School.
Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly has declared a state of emergency in the worst-hit areas. In addition, a large hailstorm was registered in several cities on the plains.
