“The European Commission has proposed changes to its plan for an embargo on Russian oil in an attempt to win back states,” the agency said on Friday, citing an EU source.

The revised proposal, which EU officials will discuss at Friday’s meeting, said it would “include a three-month transition period before a ban on Russian oil shipping instead of one month”.
Also, as indicated, assistance is provided with investments in the modernization of oil infrastructure and mitigation of sanctions.

On May 4, the EU officially announced the sixth package of sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, which includes punishment for the atrocities in Bucha, a phased oil embargo and the disconnection of Sberbank from SWIFT.
EU ambassadors have not yet agreed on an oil embargo against Russia.
EU ambassadors are reportedly set to meet again on May 6 to resolve differences over sanctions against Russia: the oil embargo problem for Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, as well as lists of names.
