Ukraine Gate – Kyiv – July 3, 2022- Poland’s Ministry of Family and Social Policy reported that more than 270,000 Ukrainian citizens in Poland, mostly women, found employment under simplified procedures after the all-out Russian invasion of Ukraine.
It is noted that the largest number of Ukrainian men and women were employed in the following provinces: Mazovia (Warsaw), Lower Silesia (Wroclaw), (Lodz) and Wielkopolska (Poznan).
Where data from the labor market confirms that it was necessary for the government to prepare regulatory measures to simplify and speed up the process of hiring Ukrainian citizens, Poland’s Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlina Malong, said, “These workers occupy an important place in the Polish labor market, and work in industries that suffer from staff shortage.”
Ukrainians work mostly in manufacturing, transportation, logistics, gastronomy, agriculture and construction, meanwhile, Ukrainian doctors, nurses, paramedics and caregivers work for elderly Ukrainians in Poland.
According to the Polish Central Statistical Office, the unemployment rate in Poland in May was 5.1%, which is lower than in April and May of last year, as confirmed, according to Eurostat data, Poland in May was again among the EU countries with the lowest unemployment rate.
Since the beginning of the comprehensive Russian aggression against Ukraine, more than two million refugees from Ukraine have arrived in Poland.
In mid-March, a special law in support of Ukrainians fleeing the war entered into force in Poland, providing for a simplified procedure for the employment of Ukrainian citizens in the Republic of Poland.
