According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz side once again emphasizes the “need to solve problems arising on the border exclusively by political and diplomatic means.”
Official bodies of Tajikistan do not comment on the situation at the border.
According to the border service of Kyrgyzstan, the Tajik side is using tanks, armored personnel carriers, BMPs and mortars. The border troops of Tajikistan, in turn, announced the use of heavy weapons by the Kyrgyz side.
The situation is characterized as tense. The parties accuse each other of shelling civilian objects.
According to preliminary data, at least four servicemen were wounded on the Kyrgyz side. The evacuation of residents of border villages has begun. Clashes are taking place along the entire perimeter of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
