The United Kingdom has said it will impose sanctions on services and an export ban aimed at “vulnerability of the Russian economy” after Putin’s annexation of Ukrainian regions, the foreign ministry said on Friday .

“Under the new sanctions, Russia will lose access to the major Western services on which it depends, including: IT consulting services, architectural services, engineering services and legal advice on operations for certain commercial activities,” the statement said.
“The UK is also banning the export of nearly 700 goods, which are crucial to Russia’s industrial and technological potential,” it added.
“The UK is moving with international partners to target key sectors of the Russian economy. The new measures will increase economic pressure on the Russian regime by eliminating vulnerabilities and disrupting critical supply chains,” the Foreign Ministry added.

According to the UK Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sanctions were also imposed against elvira nabiullina, the head of the central bank of the Russian Federation.
“Nabiullina played an important role in managing the Russian economy through the Russian regime’s illegal war against Ukraine and the spread of the ruble to Ukrainian territories temporarily controlled by Russia. nabiullina has been sanctioned and is personally subject to asset freezes and travel bans,” the statement said.
“The United Kingdom categorically condemns Putin’s statement about the illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory. We will never recognize the results of these fictitious referendums or any annexation of Ukrainian territory,” Foreign Minister James Cleverley said in a statement.
“The Russian regime must be held accountable for this bad violation of international law. That is why we are working with our international partners to increase economic pressure due to new bans on targeted services,” he added.
“What is happening in Ukraine is important for all of us, and the UK will do everything possible to help their fight for freedom,” he concluded.
