Former Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andrii Melnyk expressed hope that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would continue a successful counterattack in the Donetsk region. He stated this in an interview with Redaktions Netzwerk Deutschland .

“The liberation of Lyman – after a successful counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region – is another evidence that Ukraine will win this war. Russia has no chance to keep the occupied territories under its control in the long term,” Melnyk said.
He also appealed to Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the German federal government to equip the Ukraine with “all available heavy weapons” – including Leopard tanks.
“It would be a fatal mistake if the federal government was ‘shocked’ by Putin’s threat to use nuclear weapons,” Andrei Melnyk concluded.
