Borrell assured that Ukraine’s accession to NATO “is not a matter of principle” and that it is important to continue to support Ukraine in confronting Russian aggression. The official noted that it is necessary to extend sanctions against Russia, which, he assures, “come into force.”
The EU spokesman welcomed the continuation of “greater military assistance, additional sanctions, the preservation of those involved in the global diplomatic battle, because not all countries are so effective, strong and exhaustive against Russia.”

“This is the first time that the EU has used the funds it has to purchase weapons and deliver them to a country at war. Together with the U.S. contribution, this is what allowed Ukraine to defend itself,” Borrell said.
