People’s deputy Anton Yatsenko has been holding the title of people’s deputy for 15 years in a row, but he cannot boast of successful legislative activity. During this time, only one bill authored personally by Yatsenko became law.
Details
For all his time in the Verkhovna Rada, Anton Yatsenko became the author or co-author of 245 bills. However, almost 80% of them were rejected or withdrawn from consideration.
For 15 years, only 12 bills, in the development of which Yatsenko participated, became laws, of which only one was personally authored by him (regarding the abolition of the so-called “Savchenko Law”), in others he was a co-author.
It should be noted that Yatsenko tried to promote some initiatives during several convocations in a row. For example, about the free economic zone in Uman, from which the PEOPLE’s Deputy got into parliament. However, such bills do not even get into the session hall.
Anton Yatsenko demonstrated the greatest legislative activity during the work of the Council of the 8th convocation – he submitted almost 150 bills. What can not be said about its first convocation – a total of 26 draft laws. In the Council of the 7th convocation, he registered 40 initiatives, none of which got into the session hall, although then Yatsenko was a member of the pro-government at that time, and now banned “Party of Regions”. During the work of the current parliament, the PEOPLE’s Deputy became the author or co-author of 30 bills, the vast majority of which are now “hanging” in committees.
Recall
One of Yatsenko’s recent initiatives is a bill to reduce the salaries of people’s deputies to a minimum salary and deprive them of benefits for the duration of martial law. He has already been criticized in the scientific and expert department of the Verkhovna Rada.
Other MPs call such an initiative populist and one that carries corruption risks. After all, if people’s deputies are deprived of their salaries, it will encourage them to take bribes.
It should be noted that this is not the first time Yatsenko has proposed to deprive parliamentarians of their earnings. Thus, in 2020, he registered a draft resolution on redirecting the three-month salary of deputies to the needs of hospitals.
