“The Deputy Head of the President’s Office stressed that the recent events in eastern Ukraine demonstrate Russia’s unwillingness to comply with international agreements. The Russian side continues to provoke and systematically violate the ceasefire, which began on July 27, 2020. Ukraine is losing its best defenders every week from the shelling in Donbas, ”the statement reads.
Mashovets thanked his Canadian partners for their help in resisting Russian aggression and spoke about the human losses on the line of demarcation.
The deputy head of the OP also informed the Canadian diplomat about the concentration of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border and the large-scale exercises of the Russian Armed Forces West 2021, which are to take place in September this year and are, according to Mashovets, aggressive.
“Such actions by the Russian Federation challenge the security of Ukraine and NATO, which must be balanced by joint efforts,” he said.
Mashovets stressed the importance of joint activities, including military exercises between Ukraine and the North Atlantic Alliance.
Larisa Galadza, in turn, stressed that Canada supports Ukraine’s efforts to reform the defense and security sector and to counter Russian aggression.
On Friday, March 26, militants fired mortars, automatic grenade launchers, and large-caliber machine guns at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the village of Shumy in the environmental protection zone. As a result of enemy shelling, four Ukrainian servicemen were killed and two others were wounded.
Zelensky called on the leaders of the “Quartet of Normandy” to do everything possible to maintain a regime of a complete and comprehensive ceasefire.
