Police in Taiwan has detained the driver of an engineering truck, whose departure on the rails allegedly caused a train crash that killed more than 40 people.

The driver of an engineering truck named Lee parked on a slope near the railway tracks, the portal reports. According to him, the driver forgot to put the car on the handbrake, although the degree of inclination of the surface was about 15 degrees. After that, the car rolled onto the rails and collided with a train there.
The Taroko Express train, which had about 350 passengers on board, crashed while exiting a tunnel in eastern Taiwan on Friday. Two of the eight cars derailed, five deformed from hitting the walls inside the tunnel. Rescuers have so far evacuated passengers only from the first half of the warehouse.
According to the latest data, 41 people died and more than 60 were hospitalized.
