Ukraine Gate – Kiev April 5, 2021 The remarkable expansion of Russian forces on the Ukrainian border prompted Joseph Biden to a phone call to his Ukrainian counterpart, Voldemir Zelensky. The first phone conversation between Biden and Zelensky lasted less than an hour, and interlocutors discussed major issues of bilateral relations. Although this dialogue was preceded by telephone conversations between the Secretary of State and Defense of the United States and Ukraine, the formula “The United States will not leave Ukraine alone with Russia” should not be absolute, as our Western partners have extensive experience in demonstrating deep concern about the surrounding situation in the world. Ukraine received great symbolic support against the background of the intensification of aggression by Russia along the periphery of the borders of our state and the fanning of disturbing hysteria in the occupied Crimea. Ukraine should also be supported by its partners by spreading relevant messages in its information space and forming a common model for the West’s collective stance.
