A quality school is an environment in which a child is happy” – with this slogan, the State Service for Education Quality has launched an information campaign on the quality assurance system in Ukrainian schools. The campaign was created within the initiative “Education Quality Assurance System”, which is implemented within the project “Support to Government Reforms in Ukraine” (SURGe).

The aim of the campaign is to inform parents, students, school principals, teachers, and the community about what a quality school should be like and how a new quality assurance system and each participant in the educational process can help the institution become better.
“With our information campaign we want to convey that a quality school is the result of the joint efforts of all participants in the educational process – the founder who provides resources, the principal who constantly improves the quality of educational activities The research we conducted in preparing this campaign showed that, for example, principals do not always understand their role in improving the quality of education, so in the information resource on the quality school we show how specifically school leaders, teachers, parents, communities can join the development of the institution, “said Ruslan Horak, head of the State Education Quality Service.
As part of the campaign, the State Education Quality Service created an information resource and animated videos about what a quality school is and the education quality assurance system implemented by the Service.
Ensuring the improvement of the quality of educational activities can be realized through self-assessment procedures or passing an institutional audit – a new procedure of external evaluation of school work, during which independent experts evaluate educational and management processes.
The information resource presented within the campaign tells about these two processes, the tools used, and what results in the school can get. Also on the Quality School website, the Service offers parents a number of examples of how they can help improve the quality of school education and help the principal develop the school.
The information resource created within the framework of the campaign about quality school is available by calling qualityeducation.org.ua, and the videos are posted on the YouTube channel of the Service.
The State Education Quality Service is a state body established in 2017 that oversees compliance with the quality of education and educational standards in schools. The service is designed to help educational institutions improve the quality of educational activities, guarantee the quality of education and build public confidence in Ukrainian education.
The Education Quality Assurance System initiative is being implemented within the framework of the Government Reform Support in Ukraine (SURGe) project. Government Reform Support in Ukraine (SURGe) is an international technical assistance project implemented by Alinea International and funded by the Government of Canada.
It will be recalled that the results of research on the quality of inclusive education and access of children with special educational needs to inclusive education, which were implemented with the support of the project “Support to Government Reforms in Ukraine” (SURGe), are presented.
