Oleh Ustenko, Economic Adviser to the President of Ukraine, expects GDP growth to exceed 4% in 2021.
Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – April 08, 2021 – Economy
“4.2-4.3% of real growth is planned in the state budget. And President Zelensky speaks of the need to grow by 5% per year. Because such growth makes it possible to effectively fight poverty, ”Ustenko said on Channel 24.
According to the President’s adviser, this is less than the state budget for 2021.
Ustenko noted that the increase in Ukraine’s GDP in 2021 is possible due to the increase in domestic consumption by households due to the increase in the minimum and average wages. The credit resource will become more accessible, in particular, due to the program of affordable lending “5-7-9%”, mortgage lending, and reduction of the NBU discount rate. In addition, investments, additional state budget expenditures, and improvement of the world situation will have a positive effect on the economy.
“Therefore, 4% is the basic forecast. But we expect that this growth (GDP in 2021. – Ed.) Will be greater, “- said the adviser to the President.
Earlier, the International Monetary Fund updated its forecast for Ukraine’s GDP growth in 2021 – improving it to 4% from the 3% forecast in October.
