Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – April 08, 2021 – Transportation
In Kyiv, during the lockdown, the schedule of public transport can be adjusted depending on passenger traffic.
This was announced by Mayor Vitali Klitschko during an online briefing.
“There was a lot of speculation about the amount of transport. They say – was not enough (in the first two working days since the start of the lockdown). I emphasize that public transport works on a regular schedule, and so far – in the same amount,” he said.
Thus, according to the mayor, on Monday 200 thousand passengers used ground public transport for special passes, almost 152 thousand people used the subway; on Tuesday – 300 thousand passengers used land transport and almost 210.5 thousand trips were recorded in the subway.
“We are constantly monitoring the situation. And if necessary, we will adjust the schedule and number of vehicles depending on passenger traffic. As the occupancy of rolling stock is now many times less, including temporarily changing the schedule of subway trains,” said Klitschko.
He said that today the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration has issued almost 500,000 special passes for public transport in the capital.
According to him, passes, in particular, were issued:
health care and pharmaceutical institutions – 152 thousand;
industry (enterprises for the production and sale of food, defense, engineering) – 104 thousand;
central executive bodies, state and municipal institutions and organizations – 81 thousand;
servicemen, rescuers, law enforcement officers, judicial authorities – 72 thousand;
enterprises of housing and communal services – 46 thousand;
media workers – 4.7 thousand;
cultural, religious, and ritual institutions – 2.7 thousand.
“We can’t issue such special passes to anyone. Otherwise, why did we impose strict restrictions then? Did you see how many people tried to get into transport on Monday! Are they all employees of critical enterprises? We have a lockdown, and people continue to behave as if everything it’s great and there is no pandemic, “Klitschko added.
Lockdown in Kyiv:
