Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – April 09, 2021 – Tourism and Travel
Public Correspondents gathered opinions of cultural representatives about the rebuilding of the hotel and the idea of creating an artistic space there, which were proposed by the owners.
Architect Yuri Khmelovsky says that what was accomplished at the Dniester Hotel is not a restoration, but a reconstruction. Not only has the colonnade in the building changed, but other architectural elements and small details have also been altered. In particular, the color of the façade deformed the roof, removed the original red tiles, and altered the proportions and location of the tower and the materials from which it was constructed.
“Look at Google Maps or old photos, there were typical splits for windows. We never made such big windows. It was too expensive, so it was split up. We can say that they are not outside, and it is unlikely that they survived on the inside. Also inside were trees like these “window boxes.” They changed the slope of the roof, the angle completely changed. Accordingly, they changed the exchange. ” An interesting feature of this building – there is internal drainage, – says Yuri Khmelovsky.
Today, the network published a video clip of a tour arranged by the owners of the Dniester Hotel for the media. It should be noted that Public Carpathians is not included in the media list formed by the hotel management.
You can see that the column row has already been glazed. According to the plan of the hotel representatives, a gallery of modern art should be set up here.
This is not a new idea, says Vasyl Romanets, director of the Précarpattia Museum of Art, because the columns have been an open space for artists for many years in a row.
“There have always been artists in the People’s House. The musicians went out and “tried themselves” on the people under the pillars because it was as if it was inside and outside. It was a good fit for the viewers, bystanders, and artists who did it, ”- says Vasyl Romans.
The Director of the Art Museum of Prycarpattia believes that this colonnade exhibit was planned a hundred years ago as an open space, and should remain so today.
“See, everything that was built in those days has been designed forever, and so is this house. They did pruning, put up a row of columns to increase the capacity of people in transit who could go there, for example, to protest in the park. “, – artist notes.
Next to the hotel “Dniester”, at the address: Shevchenko, 1, is the People’s Central House of Ivano-Frankivsk. The foundation’s director, Halina Bay, says she is satisfied with the neighborhood, and the reforms are not interfering with it.
The woman said, “Nothing bothered me personally. I contact Boyko naturally and also thank him for covering my roof because we swam in the water here. ”
Frankivtsi resident Taras Oleinik at the address: Shevchenko, 1, lives in the part of the building that has been left without major repairs and reconstruction. The man says that as a result of 5 years of repairs, apartments that were separated from the hotel were damaged by a wall.
To combat the capitalist changes made by the neighbor, the inhabitants created the public organization “Kamyanitsa Austria”. Residents now began organizing rallies to keep the Dniester Portico open.
“During the protest, we put stickers on their banners. After only an hour, the work was done, and they removed all the signs completely. There were also stickers affixed to the columns, and they cleaned up all this visual information for us. That is, there is no sign on the street now. That there was some kind of protest action “, – says Taras Ulinik.
The marketer of the Dnister Hotel Roman Korol again declined to comment on today’s Carpathian audience.
