According to the results of this study, three and a half million people in Donbas received help from Rinat Akhmetov. It was this humanitarian support that changed the lives of those in the zone of armed conflict.
The profession chosen by the student of the school of social work of the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” Ksenia Chernova has changed her perception of the world. Even during an ordinary walk around the city, she notices what others are ignoring.
“I notice social work just walking down the street. For example, I see that there is no ramp for a person with a disability, ”says Ksenia.
She is a student of the first professional school of social work in Ukraine. Graduates create innovative projects, both in society and in the humanitarian sector.
“We decided to introduce a course called Corporate Social Programs. It is aimed precisely at giving students knowledge, for the opportunity to work in the field of business, but bringing there a social effect, ”says Elena Ivanova, a teacher at the school of social work at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
The largest humanitarian organization in the country shared a unique experience of social impact with students during an online lecture.
International and domestic experts conducted research on both sides of the demarcation line in Donbas at the request of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and assessed the social impact of its largest humanitarian project “Food Aid to the Population”.
“We considered not only the amount of aid but also the number of people who received it. That is, the person who received help shared it with other family members. The impact on the well-being and food security of these families was also considered. It is important for people to know that they are supported, that they were not left in this conflict and they are not indifferent, ”explains Oliver Kempton, partner, and co-founder of the consulting company Envoy Partnership.
The key findings from the study are truly amazing. It turned out that it was the assistance of the Fund that prevented a humanitarian catastrophe in the region during the escalation of the conflict.
“More than 70% could not have survived without the help of Rinat Akhmetov. Our beneficiaries have stated that this program has made an impact on their quality of life and emotional well-being. If we talk about the overall social value that was created by the program, it is the US $ 1.1 billion, ”emphasizes Elena Litvinova, member of the supervisory board of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
The research methodology is completely new for the Ukrainian charitable sector. The experience of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has already been taken as a standard by some charitable organizations abroad.
