The UK has announced the first details of the upcoming funeral of Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, who died earlier on April 9 at the age of 99 in one of the royal palaces – Windsor, on the outskirts of London.

The Heraldry Board, which is responsible for the royal ceremonies, said the body of the prince, who also held the title of Duke of Edinburgh, would remain in the palace until the funeral.
The funeral will take place in the palace chapel of St. George. But this will not be a solemn state funeral, as in Britain are buried mostly the monarchs themselves.
There will also be no public farewell to the prince’s body.
The cause of the death of Prince Philip has not yet been announced.
He recently spent nearly a month in hospital for treatment for infectious diseases and heart problems but returned to Windsor Palace on March 16.
The British government has urged people over the coronavirus pandemic not to gather in front of royal palaces and not to hold public commemorations of the prince. But hundreds of people came to Windsor Palace, as well as to Buckingham Royal Palace almost in the center of modern London, to honor the memory of the prince or lay flowers.
“Her Majesty the Queen announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Highness passed away quietly this morning at Windsor Castle, ”the royal family’s press office said earlier on April 9.
Prince Philip did not live to be two months old. He was born in 1921 on the island of Corfu. From birth, he wore the title of Prince of Greece and Denmark. Philip’s paternal grandmother – Olga Romanova, granddaughter of Nicholas I. Prince Philip served in the Navy and participated in World War II. In 1947, Philip and Elizabeth II were married in Westminster Abbey. The royal couple has four children.
In 2017, he stopped participating in public events due to deteriorating health. The queen called her husband her hope and support.
