State Department Deputy Spokesperson Jalina Porter stated that the United States is coordinating with Ukraine, as well as other countries in Europe, on the recent escalation by Russia and is monitoring developments closely.

“The United States is concerned about the Russians’ actions to escalate tensions in Ukraine,” she added. “We continue to closely monitor the situation in coordination with the Ukrainian side, as well as with our allies and partners in the region,” a US State Department spokeswoman said.
At the same time, she stressed that the US side made it clear to Moscow that Russia should refrain from any action aimed at escalating tensions. Next week, the US Secretary of State and Defense are planning to go to Brussels for talks with allies on the European Union and NATO.
One of the main issues is expected to be an assessment of the situation and potential steps in response to the escalation on the part of the Russian Federation, as well as the need for Ukraine’s support from the West.
