Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – April 11, 2021 – Economy
“Easter is late this year and falls on May 2, so by this time a lot of Ukrainian products will appear on the market. In particular, early vegetables such as young onions, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes. All these vegetables will rise in price not only due to Easter and May holidays but also due to weather conditions. That is, due to the very cold spring this year. During this period, frost, snow, rains lead to the fact that early vegetables require more energy costs, they are more difficult to grow. As a result, farmers will harvest fewer crops. Accordingly, compared to last year, in Ukraine this year, early vegetables will rise in price by about 20%, ”I. Tomich said.
He noted that vegetables are not cheap now.
“Last year was a bad year. Accordingly, the situation on the market is such that there is practically no internal stock of vegetables, and the import is not quite a profitable economic situation, ”concluded I. Tomich.
