Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko condemned the dismantling of Utkin’s house and assured that the Ministry of Culture did not issue building permits.

“The demolition of the historic house of the merchant Utkin in Kyiv is barbaric. Moreover, this building, in accordance with the historical and architectural reference plan of the city, is part of the historic area of the city, “- said Tkachenko.
The Minister stressed that criminal liability is envisaged for unauthorized occupation of a land plot. In addition, he noted that the ICIP did not give any building permits in the historic area, so he opposes and is already conducting an inspection.
“Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies must conduct a thorough investigation into who gave” permission “to destroy the historic building. Because there are more and more hotels and poker clubs in Kyiv, but what the capital has been proud of for centuries is less and less, ”Tkachenko wrote.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office has launched criminal proceedings over the dismantling of Utkin’s house in Kyiv.
