US support for Ukraine against the backdrop of Russian aggression, reforms, anti-corruption efforts, and Ukraine’s aspirations in the European Union became the main topics of the first meeting of the heads of foreign policy departments in the two countries.

This came in an official statement by the US State Department after the meeting between Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Koliba and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
The US State Department said, “Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the United States’ firm support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of the current Russian aggression.”
Blinken also expressed his concern “about the deliberate Russian measures aimed at escalating tensions with Ukraine.” In this regard, the American side noted the aggressive rhetoric and misinformation on the part of the Russian Federation, and the numerous violations of the ceasefire, as well as the accumulation of Russian forces in the occupied Crimea and along the borders of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated, “Minister Blinken and Foreign Minister Koliba discussed the importance of strengthening the rule of law and economic reforms to strengthen Ukrainian institutions, support anti-corruption efforts, and more aspirations (Ukraine-ed.) To Euro-Atlantic integration”.
