“When I spoke with President Putin, I expressed my conviction that direct communication between the two of us should be important and advance our effective relationship, and he agreed. To this end, I have invited you to meet in person at a summit in Europe this summer to discuss a number of issues facing both our countries. Our teams are now discussing this possibility, ”Biden said.
The president said he hoped that after the summit, the United States and Russia could launch a dialogue on strategic stability to achieve cooperation in a number of areas, including arms control and security.
As it became known, this week, during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Joe Biden raised the issue of drawing Russian troops to Ukraine’s borders and called for reducing military tensions.
The White House also said that the American leader invited his Russian counterpart to hold a meeting.
