Arsenal Art Director Olesya Ostrovska-Luta said: “We understand that we have two options – to cancel the Book Arsenal this year or try to save the festival. We choose the easiest option, which is a delay. ”
He added, “This does not suffer, that we may have to cancel the festival.”
The “Book Arsenal” will maintain its mixed format: the book fair, the events of the curatorial program, and award winners of the “Best Book Design” and “Antitvir” competitions will be held directly in the Art Arsenal.
Some of these events will also make up the Book Arsenal online program.
Professional development programs for remote publishing will be held, including the “Export Literature” program aimed at increasing the translation of Ukrainian literature abroad. This year’s festival will focus on “optimistic skeptics” which will be supervised by literary critic Rostislav Simkev.
In this context, Arsenal Book Coordinator Julia Kozlovitz stressed that the festival team will work within the framework of pre-set ideas and established agreements. Individual messages will be sent to all participants asking them to verify all aspects of future events.
Earlier, Oksana Khmelowska, Curator of Professional Development Programs at Book Arsenal, said that this year, instead of 50,000 regular visitors, 22,000 people will be accepted into the event if Kyiv is in the “orange” quarantine zone.
As for the reservation of tickets for the Arsenal will be sold exclusively online.
Tickets will also be announced, along with the X Book Arsenal program.
