How to grow cabbage without seedlings
When preparing the beds in the spring you need to add humus and complex fertilizers to the soil. It is also necessary to disinfect the soil from pathogens, clear of weeds and water thoroughly.
Seeds for sowing are taken the largest and strongest. It should be disinfected with manganese and left in the refrigerator for 10 – 12 hours to harden.
The next important step is to strictly adhere to the Cabbage planting dates.
In the last decade of April (from the 20th to the 30th) late varieties should be sown. Mid-late should be planted from 5 to 10 May, and medium-ripe – from 10 to 15 May.
Holes or shallow furrows are made for sowing. 3-5 seeds are lowered into each hole. In the trenches, they are laid one by one at a distance of 10 cm, to a depth of 2 – 3 centimeters. There should be a space of 50 – 60 centimeters between the rows.
Sown should be sprinkled with a moist mixture of peat and humus. The ground should be slightly compacted. It is not necessary to water a bed from above that seeds were not washed away.
Then the crops should be covered with a double layer of film or non-woven material, making a few holes. And when planting in the holes on each top is placed the cut bottom of the plastic bottle, too, with holes. This will create the necessary microclimate for future shoots. When the first sprouts appear, all the cover material must be removed.
