The head of Kyiv’s Podilskyi district, Viktor Smirnov, has died from complications from the coronavirus.

This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Facebook.
“The head of the Podilskyi district of Kyiv, Viktor Smirnov, died of coronavirus. Doctors fought for his life for more than three weeks. But, due to complications from the disease, medicine, unfortunately, did not win,” Klitschko wrote.
He also said that Viktor Smirnov had worked in the Podolsk District State Administration for 7 years, and had headed it for the past three years.
The situation with the coronavirus in Kyiv
In Kyiv on April 15, 1,609 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded, and 49 people died of complications of coronavirus disease in a day.
Most cases of the disease were detected last day in Darnytskyi district – 320, in Dniprovskyi – 294, and Desnianskyi – 190 cases.
1,156 people recovered in Kyiv on April 15. A total of 114,396 residents of the capital overcame coronavirus disease.
