“The head of the State Cosmos Volodymyr Taftay called the final cost of the agreement with the American company SpaceX to launch our satellite” Sich 2-30 (2-1) “- $ 1.99 million. They plan to launch by the end of 2021,” Vasilevskaya-Smaglyuk wrote.
According to the people’s deputy, the previous Ukrainian development of the Lybid space satellite is stored in a semi-finished state at the Russian enterprise “Satellite Information Systems” in Krasnoyarsk. To create it, Ukraine took a loan of 292 million euros, which is repaid over 10 years. “And in 2014, NABU employees discovered that part of these funds had been stolen by Ukrkosmos officials,” she reminded.
Direct talks with SpaceX began in December. Later, the parliament announced that the American company SpaceX has agreed to launch into orbit the Ukrainian satellite “Sich 2-1”.
After that, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution on financing the creation of the space system “Sich-2-1”.
UNN also reported that the State Space Agency on January 18 this year signed a non-disclosure agreement to continue further cooperation with SpaceX. The technical features of the launch of the Sich-2-1 satellite with SpaceX are currently being coordinated. The launch site of the carrier with the Ukrainian satellite (location of the spaceport) will be determined after negotiations with SpaceX.
Development of the satellite “Sich 2-30 (2-1)” began in 2013 and was supposed to be launched in 2017, however, it continues to be on the territory of CB “South”.
