Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – April 20, 2021 – Forums and Conferences
So, today on the agenda – specific measures that could improve the mechanism of control over compliance with the ceasefire.
The subgroup meets after a meeting of advisers in the “Norman” format, which took place the day before.
As reported the day before in the OP, during the meeting of the “Quartet of Normandy”, the German side offered to agree on the appeal of advisers that they welcome the renewed commitment to additional measures to strengthen the ceasefire in July 27, 2020.
Advisers to the leaders of Ukraine, France, Germany, and Russia also agreed to continue work at the next meetings to agree on clusters designed to ensure the implementation of the Minsk agreements for a peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas.
The talks will take place after leaders of Ukraine, France, and Germany last week called on Russia to stop troop deployment near Ukraine’s border and in occupied Crimea amid concerns over Moscow’s intentions.
Also on Tuesday, March 30, Armed Forces Chief Ruslan Homchak during his speech in the Parliament of Ukraine said that Russia carries a gradual increase of troops near Ukraine’s border – in the North, East, and South. In total, an additional concentration of up to 25 battalion tactical groups is expected, which, together with the available deployed forces and means near the state border with Ukraine, poses a threat to the state’s military security.
According to Khomchak, as of March 30, 2021, there are 28 battalion tactical groups of the enemy along the state border of Ukraine and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, namely in Bryansk, Voronezh, Rostov regions, and in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
