Director and producer Monte Hellman died at the age of 91.

The legend of American independent cinema died on April 20 in the hospital, where he was taken after the fall. Monte Hellman was Quentin Tarantino’s favorite director, as he produced his directorial debut, Mad Dogs.
Monte Hellman was born in 1929 in New York. He studied theatrical art at Stanford and cinematography in Los Angeles. He made the films “Terror”, “Back Door to Hell”, “Fire to Defeat”, “Escape to Nowhere”. He also helped launch Quentin Tarantino’s career, producing his directorial debut “Mad Dogs”.
He has received three awards at the Venice International Film Festival.
American composer and producer Jim Steinman has died at the age of 73.
