A fire broke out in a COVID hospital in the suburbs of Mumbai, India, killing 12 people.

A firefighter has confirmed the deaths of 12 people as a result of a fire that broke out in the critical care unit of Vijay Vallabh Hospital in the suburbs of Mumbai.
On Thursday, India recorded 314,835 new cases of infection, breaking the US record in January. There is a lack of oxygen and beds in the country’s hospitals.
Max Healthcare, which operates a network of hospitals in north and west India, posted a call on Twitter on Friday for an emergency oxygen supply at its medical facility in Delhi.
“SOS – oxygen supply to Max Smart Hospital & Max Hospital Saket will be enough for less than an hour. We are waiting for the promised fresh stocks from INOX by 1 am, ”the company said. Desperate calls from hospitals and ordinary people have been posted on social media across the country this week.

A few weeks later, 24 patients with COVID-19 who were on mechanical ventilation died of an oxygen leak at a hospital in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
