French President Emmanuel Macron, in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, urged de-escalation of tensions with Ukraine and expressed his “grave concern” about the health of imprisoned Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Macron also called on Putin to commit in good faith and in a sustainable manner towards reducing tensions with Ukraine, especially by withdrawing troops and heavy weapons from the Ukrainian borders.
And he demanded that Navalny’s “fundamental rights” be respected.
