The European Badminton Championship has started in Kyiv’s “Palace of Sports” with the participation of 200 athletes.

On the first day, those who entered the top 32 in singles and those who entered the top 16 in the men’s and women’s doubles were determined.
Our Natalia Wojciech (125th in the world rankings) met with Genjira Stadelman (Switzerland, 143rd) and won with a score of 19:21, 21:15, 21:17.
Our young couple of girls Polina Bugrova – Maria Stolyarenko also won (this is only their 2nd performance in international competitions), and they defeated the couple Kate Frost – Moya Ryan (Ireland, 106-a) with a score of 21:17, 21:19.
The talented Ukrainian couple of young girls Anastasia Prozorova – Valeria Rudakova (109) also performed, they met a strong French couple and lost with a score of 8:21, 10:21.
The European Badminton Championship was supposed to take place in Kyiv in April 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the competition was postponed to 2021.
