The situation at the winter session
The head of the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Petro Tolstoy, wrote a denunciation to the PACE chairman against a member of the Ukrainian delegation, MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, who “spoke the truth about Putin’s palace, the war in Ukraine and their place in history.”
“In this denunciation, Tolstoy gave my speech in English, but in a fairly free translation. The text of the document also says that I insulted the Russian delegation twice and made two “unacceptable statements,” the people’s deputy said at the time.
Scandal at the spring session
During a speech by a member of the permanent Ukrainian parliamentary delegation, PACE President Hendrik Deams stopped the speech of the People’s Deputy and threatened sanctions when he showed a Ukrainian flag with bullet marks.
