Ukrainian karate players Stanislav Goruna and Angelika Terlyuga won medals at the stage of the “Karate1 Premier League” tournament, which took place in Lisbon, Portugal.

On the way to the final Terlyuga alternately defeated Zuzanna Schwartz from Slovakia (2: 0), Bulgarian Ivan Kamenov (2: 0), world and European champion Sarah Cardin from Italy (2: 1), and German Jan Messerschmidt (4: 2). In the final, the Odessa athlete confidently defeated the Egyptian Yasmin Attia – 6: 0 and won a gold medal.
Instead, during the tournament, Goran defeated Turk Murat Oz (2: 1), Chilean Joaquin Gonzalez (3: 0), and Japanese Ken Nishimura (7: 1). In the semifinals, the Ukrainian lost to Iranian Bachman Asgari (0: 2), and in the fight for the “bronze” Lviv won over one of the top karate fighters in his weight class – Hungarian Gabor Harshpataki (3: 2).
Gouna and Terlyuga also received Olympic licenses for the 2020 Olympics.
The next start of Ukrainian karate fighters in the European Championship, which will be held in Porec (Croatia) on May 19-23.
It will be recalled that last year Ukraine won a historic gold medal at the Premier League in karate.
