Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – May 7, 2021 – Education
Tokens “We carry out formative assessment” are aimed at forming in primary school students a positive internal motivation to learn, interest, and improve the productivity of their work in the classroom.
The use of such tokens will help teachers to introduce elements of formative assessment, supplement verbal assessment, provide feedback to students during daily classwork, and help children to adequately assess their progress.
As you know, formative assessment is an interactive assessment of student progress, which allows the teacher to adapt the educational process accordingly. The use of formative assessment allows you to track the personal progress of the child, the progress of its mastery of educational material, and to build an individual educational trajectory of the individual.
This assessment aims to support the learning progress of students, to form a child’s self-confidence, emphasizing its strengths, not mistakes, to diagnose achievements at each stage of learning.
The use of this type of assessment allows you to identify problems in a timely manner and prevent their stratification, maintain the desire to learn, and seek the maximum possible results.
In addition, the use of formative assessment in primary school prevents the development of fears of making mistakes.
Using tokens in lessons, the teacher will be able to direct assessment to the formation of positive self-esteem of students. Under favorable conditions of education and upbringing, children begin to form adequate self-esteem of their personal qualities, achievements, and opportunities.
The set of tokens can be divided into three conditional groups depending on the child’s achievements and the teacher’s intentions to build his individual educational trajectory.

When using tokens, it is necessary to take into account the individual characteristics of each student. After all, for each child, formative assessment serves as a recommendation for action, not a pedagogical verdict.
