Rio de Janeiro police said a special operation against a gang of drug dealers Jacarezinho ended in 28 deaths, including an inspector.

In his speech at the funeral of Inspector Andre Frias, Civilian Police Secretary Allan Tarnowski praised Jacaresinho’s actions and said that the corporation’s intelligence sector had identified all 27 of those killed as drug traffickers.
More than 24 hours after the operation, civilian police did not disclose the identities of those killed in Jacaresinho.
Families who tried to release the bodies in the IML continue to accuse the police of the murders: the death of 32-year-old Jonas do Carmo dos Santos confirms that he had a ticket, but states that he went to buy bread. Rodrigo Paula de Barros, 31, says he has already been involved in drug trafficking but says he has not been looking for work for a year and a half. According to relatives, he was shot while walking a dog on the street, around six in the morning.
Of the 27 people killed in the rally, only three were convicted by the State Ministry of drug trafficking and wanted by police. The investigation notes that they were “soldiers” of the drug trade, acting as an armed wing of a criminal organization in Jacarezinho.
