Starting today 05/10/2021, Cyprus opens its borders to foreign tourists who have received two doses of the Coronavirus vaccination.
Cyprus is taking a step towards returning to a more normal pace of social and economic activity. Healthcare protocols were introduced to test the population and thus speed up the vaccination program, making Cyprus take an important step towards overcoming mistrust.
Starting Monday, May 10, the official approval system for people to leave home via text messages will be abolished. Cypriots wishing to enter the world of hospitality will now need to present a certificate of vaccination, which the government has called a “safe passport.”
It can be given to people who have received at least one dose of the Coronavirus vaccine or who have had coronavirus disease in the past six months, or who have had a negative 72-hour polymerase chain reaction test or rapid test. In this way, Cyprus completed the third partial lockdown.
Authorities said the “passport” is a temporary measure that will be used until May 31 to help speed up the island’s vaccination program.
It is noteworthy that tourists who have received two vaccines against the Coronavirus do not need to be tested before traveling to Cyprus and going to quarantine upon arrival.
Cyprus opened its borders to 65 countries, including all European Union countries, in addition to the United States, Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus.
It is reported that the Cypriot authorities say they have made great progress in vaccination – as of Monday, people over the age of twenty are entitled to receive the first dose of the vaccine.
The Ministry of Health said that Cyprus ranks sixth in the European Union in terms of introducing the first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine.
