The Kyiv Metro and Kyivpastrans utilities are asking the capital’s authorities to support the enterprises during the pandemic and allocate funds from the budget, or to review fares.
Kyiv. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – May 13, 2021 – Transportation
This is stated in a joint appeal of the labor collectives of the Kyiv metro and Kyivpastrans, published on Facebook.
“The challenges of the pandemic have seriously affected our work over the past two years. We see two possible ways to address this situation: support from the city budget. Or revision of the existing passenger fare. It is estimated that the economically reasonable tariff for 2021 is UAH 21.05, “the statement reads.
In addition, the capital’s metro stressed that since the beginning of the pandemic passenger traffic has fallen significantly (from 495 million 339 thousand passengers in 2019 to 279 million 484 thousand passengers in 2020 and to 85 million 163 thousand passengers in 4 months of this year).
The company noted that because of this there is a risk of delay or non-payment of salaries to employees. The subway indicated that at least 1 billion 514 million rubles are needed to ensure the operation of the enterprise.
In turn, Kyivpastrans said that their traffic fell by 39.9%. At the same time, electricity tariffs increased 1.2 times and the minimum wage 1.75 times.
According to the calculations of KP, economically justified tariffs for 2021: UAH 25.18 – for travel by land (tram, trolleybus, bus) and UAH 78.90 – for travel by city train.
The companies said that there is a threat of power outages, layoffs, and salary delays, which in turn will lead to a transport collapse in the capital.
