Negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the situation on the border in Nagorno-Karabakh have been postponed to May 16 because they did not yield results yesterday.

On May 15, Azerbaijan and Armenia held talks on resolving the situation in some border areas aimed at resolving the conflict. Armenia demanded that the Azerbaijani military leave the country to avoid further aggravation of the situation and unpredictable consequences.

The Armenian Defense Ministry said on Saturday that the Azerbaijani armed forces remain in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions.
Earlier, Armenia announced the movement of Azerbaijani troops on the border. Acting The Prime Minister of the Republic Nikol Pashinyan reacted to the west of the Azerbaijani troops on the territory of Armenia – calling it a planned provocation.
On May 12, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported that early in the morning, the Azerbaijani armed forces tried to carry out “certain work” in one of the border areas of Syunik in order to “adjust the border.”
According to the agency, after the measures taken by the Armenian units, the Azerbaijani military has suspended these works, negotiations are underway to resolve the situation. In the evening of the same day, Pashinyan convened a meeting of the Security Council of the republic, during which he called the events an encroachment on the territory of Armenia. According to him, the Azerbaijani armed forces crossed the state border of Armenia, going 3.5 km deep.
The day before, Armenia sent letters to the CSTO member states over the situation with Azerbaijani troops on its border.
After the end of hostilities in the conflict zone around Nagorno-Karabakh in autumn 2020, when seven areas adjacent to Nagorno-Karabakh came under Baku’s control, Armenia’s border with Azerbaijan began to run directly next to the Syunik region.
