million cases of coronavirus COVID-19 have already been registered in Ukraine, an increase of 4,000 per day on May 17, almost twice as many as the day before. The number of fatalities per day more than doubled against the figure the day before – 285. This was reported by the data of the Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov on Facebook.

In Ukraine, for the past 24hrs, on May 17, 4,095 new cases of COVID-19 were detected, including 235 children and 162 health workers. Also, 17,751 patients recovered and 285 died from complications. 999 people were admitted to hospitals with suspected or confirmed cases.
The number of those who recovered in a day far exceeded the number of patients. This trend has been observed for the last three weeks.
Most new cases were found in Donetsk (428), Rivne (425), Kyiv (425), Poltava (275), and Zaporizhia (265) oblasts.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,160,095 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Ukraine, of which 1,882,344 people have recovered and 48,469 have died from complications. 229,282 Ukrainians remain active patients – 13,941 people less than last day.
Coronavirus test in Ukraine
Over the past 24hrs, the laboratories performed 61,110 tests for coronavirus: by PCR – 30,693, by ELISA – 13,378. They also performed 17,039 rapid tests for the antigen to the virus.
Over 9.8 million PCR tests have been performed in Ukraine so far.

According to Worldometer, a resource that monitors the situation with the coronavirus in the world, Ukraine ranks 16th in distribution and 18th in the number of deaths from COVID-19.
