The performance of the Icelanders will be shown in the recording
The Daði og Gagnamagnið group from Iceland was already in quarantine, but tests did not confirm the disease in other members. However, after consultations with the organizer of the competition – EMC – the team decided to refuse to participate in public performances.
However, the song “10 years” remains in the competition. National juries and TV viewers will evaluate a recording of the Icelanders’ performance at a rehearsal in Rotterdam. The EMU has set such rules this year in case a Eurovision contestant is quarantined due to a coronavirus or is unable to fly to Rotterdam. Thus, in the first semifinal, a recording of the performance of the Australian Montaigne, made in her homeland in compliance with strict regulations, was shown. Due to coronavirus restrictions, Montaigne was unable to fly to the Netherlands. The song performed by her in the final of “Eurovision-2021” did not pass.
Daði og Gagnamagnið is one of the favorites of both the competition, which was canceled last year due to a pandemic and the current Eurovision Song Contest.
