Spain has announced its readiness to receive foreign tourists from June 7, provided that they are vaccinated against the coronavirus with vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or the World Health Organization (WHO).
A similar requirement (but without a deadline) was approved the day before by the Council of the European Union for all EU member states.
The Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez announced the lifting of restrictions for vaccinated tourists. He added that British citizens will be allowed to enter from Monday, May 24.
According to Sanchez, the Spanish authorities expect that in the summer in the country will come from 30% to 40% of international tourists. By the end of the year, Spain hopes that the flow of tourists to the country will reach 60-70%.
Coronavirus vaccine in Europe
Four vaccines have been approved for use in the EU: AstraZeneca, Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson.
EU countries are also discussing the introduction of a single vaccination passport. The document will indicate, in particular, the date and place of vaccination, as well as the type of vaccine used. The draft digital green certificate was presented in March.
