According to him, many digital currencies may cease to exist.
Carl Icahn, 85, was an adviser to the administration of former US President Donald Trump, and his fortune is estimated at $15.6 billion.
A few years ago, Icahn stated that he thought cryptocurrency was “funny” and that he was “too old for them.”
However, during his recent speech, the billionaire emphasized the possibility of major investments in the cryptocurrency market.
“Most cryptocurrencies issued today will not survive, but we believe that cryptocurrency in one form or another may survive,” Icahn said. To be clear, we have never bought cryptocurrency, but we are studying it.”
According to him, cryptocurrencies, which do not act as a means of saving, will be taken out of the market, because promising coins should be safe.
In response to the billionaire’s statement, founder of crypto investment firm Mythos Capital and Bankless Ryan Adams wrote on Twitter that Icahn may have already entered the market.
“If Carl Icahn has not yet bought ETH and BTC for $1 billion, why is he declaring that he is going to buy ETH and BTC for $1 billion?” Adams wrote.
It should be noted that the bitcoin exchange rate fell last week to a record low of $31.3 thousand for the past three months.
Compared to the maximum exchange rate of $64.8 thousand that bitcoin reached on April 14, the coin has fallen more than twice.
