In the Poltava region, a resident of a nearby high-rise building started shooting at police officers who had come to work out a call for a conflict. As a result of urgent measures, the internal security officers of the National Police and Kremenchuk Police, with the support of special services, identified the shooter, declared him a suspect, and placed him in a temporary detention center.

During the night, officers of the Poltava Department of the Internal Security Department of the National Police received information about the shelling of police officers in the city of Kremenchuk, who was working on a call regarding a conflict situation in one of the city’s nightclubs. An unknown person from the window of a high-rise building shot at two law enforcement officers during the execution.
At the scene, police internal security operatives and employees of the Kremenchuk District Police Department identified the apartment from which the shooting took place and the identity of the perpetrator. The shooter was a 38-year-old local resident who lived with his underage daughter. In the past, the man was convicted of poaching and burglary.
With the physical support of special police officers and the procedural management of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor’s Office, law enforcement officers conducted an urgent search of the perpetrator’s home. A half-disassembled air pistol was found and confiscated, and a gas cylinder and a shop were thrown in the yard of the house, which the man threw out the window to get rid of the evidence.
At present, investigators of the Kremenchuk District Police Department of Poltava region have announced to the defendant a suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 345 (Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In addition, according to the results of a medical examination, it was established that at the time of the shooting, the perpetrator was in a state of intoxication.
Currently, the man was detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility. He may face up to five years in prison or the same term of imprisonment for his actions.
