The National Commission of Health of China said Tuesday that a 41-year-old man in eastern Jiangsu province was confirmed the first case of human infection of avian influenza H10N3 strain.

A resident of Zhejiang was reportedly hospitalized on April 28 due to fever and other symptoms. On May 28, he was diagnosed with H10N3 bird flu. The commission does not report details about how the man was infected with the virus.
Thus, H10N3 is a low-pathogenic strain of poultry virus, and the risk of its spread on a large scale was very low, the commission added.
It is reported that the man was in stable condition and was ready for discharge from the hospital. No other cases of the disease were found in his relatives.
According to the commission, there has long been no known fact about other cases of H10N3 infection in the world.
As it became known earlier, a new cluster (cluster or group of people with common sources of infection) of a very rare variant of coronavirus was discovered in the west of France. The strain called 20I / 484Q is related to the British version of SARS-CoV-2 but has another new mutation (E484Q).
