Only every fourth Ukrainian (25%) is satisfied with his life, almost the same number are dissatisfied with the quality of life in Ukraine.
This is stated in the survey “The Barometer of Happiness in Ukraine”, conducted by the European Business Association in conjunction with the company “Kernel”.
According to the EBA, in 2021 the integral indicator of the “barometer” was 2.65 points out of 5 possible and practically did not change compared to last year (2.64 points). During the survey, Ukrainians were asked to evaluate 9 factors that affect the quality of life. The respondents rated their satisfaction with their current job the best (3.53 points). The worst (2.21 points) rated the level of safety.
According to the survey, more than half of the survey participants are satisfied with their current work – 52% and another 37% assess it as satisfactory. At the same time, the majority of respondents complain about overtime work, the volume of which has grown significantly over the past year, and the actual lack of balance between work and personal life.
The inhabitants of the country assessed the general experience of life in Ukraine at 3 points.
“In general, every fourth Ukrainian surveyed is satisfied with his life. 25% of respondents assessed their experience of life in Ukraine well, another 51% – satisfactory, but the remaining 24% are dissatisfied with the quality of life in Ukraine (compared to 31% last year). The worst among the factors influencing life in Ukraine, the respondents assessed the level of safety, the state of the health care system and the environment, ” – said in the message of the EBA.
The level of social life received 3.15 points – 78% of the respondents assess their social life and leisure time satisfactorily or positively.
The assessment of the education system has slightly improved this year (up to 2.6 points) – 41% assess the level of educational services in Ukraine as satisfactory, another 13% – good.
The income level received 2.44 points out of 5, while 45% of the respondents called it sufficient for a normal life (in 2020, this figure was 55%), and 55% – insufficient.
Ukrainians assessed the state of the legal field at 2.43 points. The survey participants note that there is still a tangible bureaucracy in the country, manifestations of corruption and discrimination. Positive factors include digitalization and improving the quality of administrative services.
The assessment of the health care system has dropped significantly – to 2.24 points, while 65% of respondents consider it unsatisfactory.
The environmental situation in Ukraine (2.28 points) is considered negative by 63% of the respondents. Most of all, Ukrainians are worried about the problem of waste disposal, the quality of drinking water and air, and the low level of environmental awareness of citizens.
“Thus, 66% of respondents are not satisfied with the state of security and feel insecure about their own future,” the survey says.
In 2021, the survey “The Barometer of Happiness in Ukraine” was conducted among 1,912 respondents from the Internet audience. The online survey was sent to member companies of the European Business Association, and was also offered to users of the social network Facebook. 50% of respondents are residents of Kyiv, 56% of respondents are people aged 26-40 years. Most of the respondents are office workers – 60%.
